What We Do

Based in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, IRTHI Contemporary Crafts Council is a cultural and creative initiative dedicated to preserving the UAE’s rich craft traditions while fostering economic and social empowerment for women artisans. Operating under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, IRTHI sits at the intersection of heritage, design, and sustainable development.

At the heart of our work is a commitment to reviving traditional Emirati crafts—including Talli (hand braiding), Safeefah (palm frond weaving), Sadu, and embroidery—by reinterpreting them through a contemporary lens. Each IRTHI collection is a dialogue between generations, cultures, and design disciplines—creating timeless pieces that are functional, beautiful, and deeply rooted in identity.
